Long TIme- no NOTHIN'

So I think I am the worst blogger in the WORLD....Life gets so busy and time flies.
November is here, and with it brought Dano's facial  hair...Oh yay! I mean we love it and why not suport a great cause like prostate cancer.  I even bought a stache to support the cause.
I was just going to take a pic. and post it of our mustaches and tell you all how I never leave home without it.  But alas I have lost it.  Someone at some store probably thought it was a dead rat and swept it up....Oh I am soooooo sad:(  Oh well one day when I get back to Urban Outfitter some day I will buy a new one. Until then I will look at Danos and try to explain to my friends that even though he looks creepy he is still the same guy and their families are still safe around him....
So support MOvember...

A Little Blip On The Map.

I have not been watching the amazing race this season...But this week my Mom told me I had to turn it on so we did... They were in Singapore. Last Oct. Dano and I went to Singapore on our first real vacation in 10yrs.  It was amazing! The show brought back some very good memories.  We have some awesome friends that are living over there and they were so generous to let us crash at their place and they showed us all the really cool places to go.
When we were watching  the show it was so neat to realize we had been to all of those places or seen then as we drove past. We went to the opera house and the pavilion in the park on our Sunday walk after church how cool is that.... It made me miss being there so very much. It is so beautiful and clean and safe. I wish that I could go back. But we will cherish the time we had there.
Thanks Ben Cheryl and Little Samara for the great time.

GURNEYS HOUSE OF FOOD

Have you ever had your kids freak out about having to eat leftovers? Well it happens at our house every once in a while so we thought we would change things up a bit.
Yesterday after school I gave Slade a list of things we had to eat and I asked him to make a few menus. He had a lot of fun and he did a great job. The girls had no idea what was going to happen later but I knew they were going to love it.
Just before dinner Slade brought me the menus and we handed them out to the family.  He named our restaurant  GURNEYS HOUSE OF FOOD.  They had so much fun choosing what they would have for their entree, drinks and desert. Dano then explained to them that the restaurant they would be dining at was a fancy one and they needed to go and get dressed up.  You don't need to tell my kids twice when it comes to dressing up they were all over it.
When the kids returned in their fancy clothing and make-up for the girls Dano took pictures so they would feel so glamorous. Dano called them mademoiselle and garcon all night and they giggled every time.
Libby however missed out on our fun evening, she fell asleep as soon as the menus were brought out.
They ate without complaining and that doesn't happen very often.
It was a success.

Lots of laughs!

Today has been filled with my kids saying and doing the craziest things. When I was trying to put jeans and a t-shirt on Finn this morning he ran away and opted for a pink fur shrug and a pair of princess shoes...NO I didn't take a picture...
Then this evening after we ate dinner with very little complaining we were all helping with dinner clean up when Piper started chanting REESE IS GOING TO JUVIE....REESE IS GOING TO JUVIE..... Meanwhile Reese was standing on top of a stool VERY PROUD of the thought.....ARG my kids are crazy.
We watch a little to much ICARLY at our house but it is so stinkin funny! I was laughing so hard and all I could say was Hobos can't afford cable(another line off icarly...)
Then again tonight Finn and Libby come walking out of their room both holding a purse and wearing princess shoes.
I HEART MY FAMILY!

Mozart

I could not resist this Mozart Bust I found at the thrift store.  I did think he needed to be brightened up a bit. We listened to Mozart on youtube while I painted him....It was very inspiring.  I thought it was a great learning moment for my kids.

The top of my hood vent will be finished soon sorry.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

You can't make the Book or Mormon better but look how cute it can be.

So this project started when I needed a Baptism gift for my neice Kaitlin. I had remembered seeing it on a super cute blog http://diaryofacraftaholic.blogspot.com/ And once I got started all the kids wanted one. It was a fun project and I loved making them.  These are the suplies I started with. You use double sided tape to attach the paper to the book so you can change it out if you want later.

Sorry about the fuzzy picture. I thought adding their names would be a fun touch... They love it!I found the alphabet rub-ons at the dollar store and fell in love.

Magnet Boards.

I got these frames and metal from my Mother in-law a couple of years ago but I didn't get a chance to finish them.  I had planned on painting the metal with chalkboard paint but I am not so sure they would stay nice looking in my kids room. Instead I found some really cute scrapbook paper and covered them in that using spray adhesive(my new best friend). I am really excited with how they turned out.

Here are the finished magnet boards. Now I just need to put together some fun magnets.

It's Been A While!

I know it's been a while since my last post and I hope I have not bored you....Of course I have. I have a lot to show you and I am thinking I might spread it out rather than dropping it on the blog in one fell swoop. I am getting the twins on a good sleeping schedule and rooms are getting put together a bit at a time. I am loving life right now especially when Dano doesn't have to work the weekend....
And have I mentioned I am running again. That can be a love/hate relationship but I am loving it right now. It is what I need. I figured if I sign up for a race then I have to train for it or look like a fool. Ok ok I might still look like a fool but at least I am not sitting on my BUTT right. So I signed up for the Moonlight Run 2010 March 20, 2010 . I think everyone should sign up, the last time I ran it was 3 years ago and I never realized how fun a race can be. I hope to see you there.

One of those days!

You know the days when you feel like everything is going great. The house is clean and you can enjoy seeing the top of your kitchen island. The laundry is done or at least almost and the kids are being pretty good. And you've been able to work out and feel good about life.  Lets just say that was LAST WEEK. This week is a different story Holy Cow! My kiddies were sick over the weekend (and some still are) and my Hubby had to work and it was just a crazy busy weekend. I feel like life is piling up around my ears. I have so much I need to get done and instead I am spending my time holding my little ones and breaking up their fights.....While the world around me becomes a mess. But oh how I love them.
Already today I had to tell Libby that she can't hit Finn with a hammer, I've had to clean up the puddle they were spashing in on the floor and break up the countless fights over CHAPSTICK... have I mentioned their LoVe of chapstick...They go crazy over it.

MY WEEKEND PROJECTS COMPLETED!

MY WEEKEND PROJECTS!
I had a lot of fun creating these it all started during Christmas when Finn pulled a dollar store ornament from the tree and pulled the gold sequins off.  I was about to throw the Styrofoam ball away but then I thought I could come up with some way to use it. So I used the fabric left over from my curtain project to wrap the balls and then I realized I needed other sizes so after Christmas I picked up some plastic ornaments for next to nothing.
They blue finial was the color of the tiles behind it sorry no before pic. I needed it to give a punch of color. Lets just say I didn't realize I bought metalic paint so I rubbed it with black stain to help tone it down.

GRADITUDE JOURNALS!  Ok so I got this Idea from my cousins super talented wife Amy. After some misshaps with the first books I had bought I settled on some beautiful metalic blue stary books. Lets just say I like them alot more coved in the cute paper. And thanks Geneil and Cheryl for all your help.

Some Of My Projects!

MY CURTAINS!
I made these curtains in november. I saw a pillow in a magazine that gave me this idea. I love them. The sun was getting pretty bad so I needed something. I do need to hem them...Maybe someday when I get some time...Oh and I made the snow flakes for Christmas.

TREE TREATS!  My sister Tera gave me this idea...LOVED IT! So my Mom and Tricia made them for our kids to give their teachers.

What a GREAT WEEKEND!!!!!!

So this has been a great weekend. I had a crazy week with the kids, most of the crazy came from the twins but hey we expect that right. There was one night Dano asked if it was wrong if he wished they were turning 4 this year instead of two. My reply was a lot of ....we need to enjoy the JOURNEY and love the stage they are at....they heard me I know they did and then the next day I apologized profusely to my husband for the crap I tried to pass off the day before because I too wanted the two years to disappear especially after the day I had with them. BUT  this weekend came and I am again happy with all of my beautiful children. Piper was star of the week this past week and then was picked to bring home the class mascots buzz the bee and buzz Jr.. Slade had his first day at basketball and Dano is his assistant coach. Reese was able to have fun sleeping at Mya's and then Piper got to the next night and oh how they were spoiled by their Aunt....Thanks Tasha.  We have had a Family filled weekend of finishing projects and watching funny movies and I have enjoyed every minute of it....

JODY IS FINISHING PROJECTS!

We've only lived in our house since June, but our kitchen is slowly accumulating the leftovers of crafty projects, finished and unfinished.  Jody is madly trying to finish as many projects as she can tonight.  Tommorrow is the day Dano is threatening to clean unfinished projects out of the kitchen!
If you don't see any pictures of said projects, leave a comment to remind Jody that part of the project is documenting the results.

COVER SONGS

Sometimes people get in the way of their own talents... that is, the way they act or portray themselves obscures a work of genius.  Don't get me wrong, at the height of their popularity the Cure and Wham were both respected music acts, but only later as other bands cover these songs can I appreciate how awesome they are.

Dano's Music

The Morning Benders
During the Christmas season we were able to host some very fun parties and for that reason we had some late nights as a family. The twins have been up way to late for too long.  So last night I told Dano we were going to make a major effort to put them to bed at 9:30.  So we both went to lay down with them and I thought we were doing great but when 10:30 rolled around they both sat up and said SANTA HO Ho HO! I was so mad but all I could do was laugh. That ruined everything from that point the jumped out of bed and ran around the room in the dark acting like wild animals until about 11:30.  Then Libby thought it would be so funny to bite Finn on the back of the neck(my babies are pale but I'm pretty sure they are not vampires.) That is when I said enough is enough and I chucked them back in bed and lets just say they fell asleep at midnight I think they taught me a lesson....

2010 will be a great year for the Stirling Gurney Seven!

We have decided to create a blog to document memorable events in our family, as well as create a place for us to post, share, and discuss art, music, news, and social happenings that matter to us.
And what better time to start than 2010!
